Ciara Sheridanโs father has left her with three a sprawling and distinctly ramshackle estate on the Irish coast, the outline for the finale to his bestselling epic fantasy series that he wanted her to finishโand writerโs block.
Enter Sam Frank Sheridan fanboy and hotshot editor, sent from the New York publishing house direct to Ciaraโs doorstep. Ciara was expecting a crusty old-timer, so the handsome young American is a surprise. And for his part, Sam was expecting Ciara to have written something by now.
Ciara and Sam have two weeks of the hottest Irish summer on record to write this novel together and secure Frankโs legacyโbut will their own love story be the plot twist neither of them see coming?
I love books about books already, but setting it in Ireland, puts it over the top.

New York, 1900. At the dawn of a new century, the cityโs streets teem with electricity, automobiles, a brash young President Teddy Rooseveltโand the It Girls. As artistโs muses and working models, these independent young women soar to stardom not because of their pedigrees or inherited wealth, but because of their talent, charisma, and irresistible beauty. Pop culture is born, and in a world alight with Mr. Edisonโs new bulbs, no one shines brighter than Americaโs sweetheart, Evelyn Talbot.
But the journey to stardom was not simple or straight. As a young girl, a grieving Evelyn is forced to take care of her widowed mother and kid brother. While working as a shopgirl, she is recruited as a studio model, and soon catches the eye of the preeminent artists of her age. When Broadway comes calling, Evelyn solidifies her status as the first self-made American female celebrity, a โGibson Girl,โ the most sought-after face of her time. Enter a parade of powerful and power-hungry men, from world-famous architect Stanley Pierce, the visionary behind Manhattanโs mansions and iconic landmarks, to Hal Thorne, the shockingly wealthy railroad heir and premiere โplayboyโ of high society. Each man promises comfort, glamour, securityโeven love. But fame and fortune are cruel teachers.
When Evelyn finds herself at the center of a murder of passion declared โthe Crime of the Century,โ the sins of the men in her life are blamed onย her. In the media frenzy that erupts, Evelyn realizes thatโto surviveโshe will have to take charge of her own ending. But can this artistsโ muse turned showgirl pull off the greatest act of her life?ย
It Girlย is a breathtaking ride inspired by a singular artist and survivor who captured the heart of American society. In Allison Patakiโs talented hands, we see Evelyn find the power to change not only the world around her, but her own destiny.
I love how Pataki stories of women who had extraordinary lives but are virtually unknown.

The twins Romulus and Remus may be known as the mythical founders of Rome, but history is silent in regards to their mother, Rhea Silvia. If she is remembered at all, it is as a preface to her sons’ journey, the princess turned priestessโand a victim of rapeโcondemned to death alongside her children.
But that is not the full story.
Though born into royalty, when Rhea’s family is beset by tragedies and her father loses his kingdom in a treacherous coup, she is sent to the order of the Vestal Virgins, to ensure she will never produce an heir. Except when mortals scheme, gods laugh.
Rhea becomes pregnant, and human society turns against her. Alone, ostracized, and facing the gravest punishment, Rhea forges a dangerous deal with the divine to protect what she loves, one that will forever change the trajectory of her lifeโฆand her land.
All roads may lead to Rome, but they began with Rhea Silvia.
A powerful and fierce reimagining of the founding of the Roman empire and the legend of Romulus and Remusโand the mother whose sacrifice made it all possible.
I don’t know much about the story of Remus and Romulus other than the founding of Rome.

1920โs London was enthralled by the discovery of the treasure-filled tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun. Filled with priceless statues, jewels, and the gold-encased mummy of the boy Pharaoh himself, the burial site unleashed a fascination with the ancient world and revolutionized the world of archeology.
The discovery was made by Lord Carnarvon of Highclere Castle and his associate, famed archeologist Howard Carter. What no one knows is that without the pioneering spirit of Lady Evelyn Herbert, Carnarvonโs daughter, the tomb might never have been found. As a young woman, Evelyn was fascinated by the story of Hatshepsut, a woman who had to assume the guise of a man in order to rule Egypt. Although she brought peace and prosperity to Egypt, her male successors ruthlessly and thoroughly erased her name from history.
Lady Evelynโs ambition to find the tomb of Egyptโs first woman ruler exposes her to life-threatening danger and pits her against archeologists who refuse to believe the tomb can be foundโand certainly not by a woman. Refusing to give up, Evelyn is on the verge of success when she is suddenly forced to make an agonizing choice between loyalty to her beloved father and Carter and realizing the dream of a lifetime.
I have read bits and pieces about uncovering King Tut’s tomb, but a whole book dedicated to it sounds interesting.

Cocky, pierced firefighters are perfect for late-night rom-coms, but in real life theyโre nothing but trouble. Especially when you find out they work for your dadโafter youโve already slept with them.
Moving to my parentsโ small town was supposed to be the fresh start I was looking for. When a disastrous Valentineโs Day leads to an unexpected encounter with a sexy stranger, it ended with the hottest night of my life.
I didnโt think I would ever see Whip again.
Imagine my surprise when one of my sixth-grade students has a medical emergency and itโs Whip who shows up, looking hot as hell, to save the day. I should be embarrassed at how we left things, but instead Iโm furious he doesnโt seem to remember me.
So I scrape my pride off the floor, lift my chin, and pretend thereโs nothing between us. But that can last only so long. Stolen glances melt into forbidden touches, and once we give in to temptation, we canโt keep our hands off each other.
Nothing has ever felt so right, but my guarded heart wonโt let me believe in happily ever after with a man like him. Opening up to Whip may be the hardest thing Iโve ever done, and every time we agree to one last time, we both know itโs a lie.
How many times can we keep telling ourselves just this once before we realize that, when it comes to love, once is never enough?
This is a special edition of a book released in 2024.

In everyoneโs life, thereโs a split-second decision that can change everything…
For Larissa, it came when choosing which guy to ride home with after a concert. That night, she had no idea sheโd met the perfect man. She and Chris are great together, co-parenting a slightly unhinged rescue Yorkie, sharing their favorite books, and judging bread (pumpernickel for the win!). For the first time amid all her side hustles to scrape by, things finally feel easy.
But Chris isn’t the one who drove Larissa home all those months agoโChris is her boyfriend’s best friend. All Chris wants is for Larissa to be happy. Standing by on the sidelines is slowly killing him, but making a move would destroy someone else. And heโs just not that guy.
Abby Jimenez writes the best rom coms.
